The Profile Prism RGB halos and Prism RGB strips are the color-changing option. If you want the full spectrum of colors controlled through your phone, Prism is the line you want. These products deliver clear, neutral white output along with vivid reds, blues, greens, purples, and everything in between. The phosphorous silicone coating on every Prism halo and strip ensures a smooth, even appearance, both when illuminated and when the headlights are off during the day.
The Profile Pivot switchback angel eyes and Pivot switchback LED strips are built for the enthusiast who wants a clean, functional upgrade. These run full-time white as a DRL, then flash bright amber when your turn signal activates, and automatically return to white. The amber output on the Pivot line is dramatically brighter than any other switchback product on the market, because Profile’s LED driver actually overdrives the amber LEDs for approximately half a second. This brief overdrive produces a much more visible turn signal without compromising the long-term reliability of the LEDs.

With a Profile Pivot sequential switchback setup, the LED strip or halo runs in white mode as a permanent DRL. When your vehicle’s turn signal circuit activates, the amber LEDs take over with a bright, sequential illumination pattern, then automatically return to white when the signal stops.
What makes the Pivot line exceptional is the amber brightness. Profile’s LED driver specs include an overdrive function that pushes the amber LEDs harder for the first half-second of each activation. This creates an initial burst of amber that is significantly brighter than what the LEDs would produce at their standard operating current. Because the overdrive is momentary, it does not compromise the rated 50,000-hour lifespan of the Hybrid-LED technology.
The Prism RGB line also includes switchback functionality, which is something most RGB products on the market cannot do. If you are running a Prism color-changing setup and your turn signal activates, the amber switchback interrupts whatever RGB color you are displaying, fires the amber signal, and then returns to your selected color. This means you do not have to sacrifice turn signal functionality to have a color-changing headlight build.

The Morimoto XBT Bluetooth controller is our go-to recommendation at TRS. This three-channel controller connects to your iPhone or Android via Bluetooth, giving you full color control, zone management, and effects (solid, fade, strobe) through the free Morimoto smartphone app. Each of the three channels can be controlled independently, so you can run different colors or effects on your halos, strips, and demon eyes simultaneously. The XBT features a waterproof die-cast housing with a carbon fiber mounting bracket, and it supports up to 12 amps across all three zones. It defaults to white on startup, keeping you legal for driving.

The Profile PrismPilot controller is the budget-friendly alternative. It uses an RF (radio frequency) remote instead of Bluetooth, so there is no phone app involved. The 3M double-sided tape on the back of Profile strips is designed for positioning, not permanent mounting. Use it to hold the strip in place while you work out the final placement inside your headlight housing, but secure the strip permanently with the fishing line method that Profile recommends. This is the proven technique for long-term reliability and ensures the strip stays put through years of thermal cycling.
Protect the phosphorous coating during installation. The white coating on Profile halos and strips is what gives them their smooth, even illumination, and it is more delicate than it looks. Handle the lit surface carefully, avoid contact with abrasive materials, and keep halos in their packaging until you are ready to install.
Mount the LED driver in a location that is accessible but protected. The die-cast housing is weather-resistant, but smart placement (on the back of the headlight housing or tucked into a clean engine bay location) makes future troubleshooting easier. Profile thoughtfully includes mounting points on the driver housing for exactly this purpose.
If you are building a full custom headlight with both halos and strips, consider combining Prism and Pivot products. You can run Prism RGB halos for color-changing effects while using Pivot switchback strips as functional DRLs and turn signals. Can you install LED halos in any headlight?
Most headlights can accept LED halos, but the housing needs to be opened first. Halogen and HID headlights with removable lenses are the easiest to work with. Some modern LED headlights (like the semi-circle halos option) can also accommodate halos depending on the internal layout.
